Over the last few years there have been many diet fads that focus on specific foods. The majority of these foods are berries or fruits from far off lands. Two of the foods have been acai and maqui berries. They both have been part of the health food revolution for different reasons. Both are reported to have wonderful nutritional benefits that can help you lose weight. Acai Berries Acai berries come from the Acai palm that is native to Brazil. It is a small round purple fruit about 1 inch in circumference. The berries are often juiced and used to flavor various things such as ice cream or juice. Many natives in Brazil still eat acai berries as a major part of their diet. Around 2004 it became a widely recognized health food supplement. It was meant to do all sorts of things from reversing diabetes to increasing attractiveness. Though it may sound silly like that many people consider acai berries to be a wonder drug. Though there have not been any official trials to determine exactly what the health benefits are to acai berries they are still a fruit. Things flavored with acai berry juice are probably healthier for you than other things. A diet high in fruit may not make diabetes reverse but it does add to the overall healthiness of your body. A diet that includes a lot of naturally flavored foods is better than a diet of mostly artificial foods. Maqui Berries These berries come from South America and purple colored as well. It is used as a medicine amongst the natives in the area and has thus created a phenomenon across the internet. It is said to be the next super berry, but after acai what is so super about it? Once again there have been very few tests on it, but it does seem to have a higher amount of antioxidants than normal food. Antioxidants keep your body from being infected with toxins, chemicals and free radicals. They aren't going to revolutionize your body but eating foods high in antioxidants does lead to a longer, healthier life span. When it comes to weight loss many seem to think maqui berries are the answer. There haven't been a whole lot of tests done, but antioxidants do help some in weight loss. When you eat a large amount of antioxidants the toxins in your body are removed and it helps to slim you down. Though it may not be the answer maqui berries seem to have some positive effects. Apart from getting slim there are many health benefits of acai berry. Try it out if you want to get slim fast.
